How It Works
Organize Your Mac Downloads & Desktop Automatically
OCDify uses offline AI to sort every file in your Downloads folder and Desktop the moment it arrives — privately, with no cloud uploads and no manual effort.
Download & install OCDify
Download the .dmg, drag OCDify to Applications, and launch it. It takes about 60 seconds. On first launch OCDify downloads its AI model (~1 GB from Hugging Face) — this is the only network request the app ever makes.
After the model downloads, OCDify is fully offline. You can even block its internet access in macOS's firewall and everything still works.
Choose folders to watch
Open OCDify's settings window and add the folders you want it to monitor — typically Downloads and Desktop, but you can add any folder on your Mac.
macOS will ask for permission the first time you add a folder. OCDify only accesses folders you explicitly grant. You can revoke access at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security.
Define your categories
Add category names that make sense for how you work: "Screenshots", "Client Contracts", "Invoices", "Source Code", "Design Assets", or whatever you actually use.
OCDify creates subfolders with these names inside each watched folder. The AI uses your category names as labels when classifying — descriptive names give better results.
Enable auto-organize and you're done
Toggle Auto-Organize on. From this point OCDify watches for new files and moves each one into the right category the moment it lands — no clicks required.
You can also run a one-time bulk sort on an existing messy Downloads folder or Desktop. It reads each file's content and name, classifies it, and moves it into the matching category.

Whether you're clearing a years-old Downloads mess or keeping Desktop clear forever, here's what OCDify looks like in practice.
Cleaning up a messy Downloads folder
The problem
Your Downloads folder has 800 files — PDFs, ZIPs, images, installers, invoices — all flat in one directory.
With OCDify
Run OCDify's manual sort once. In a few minutes every file is in a named subfolder: Documents, Images, Installers, Invoices, Archives. Your Downloads folder goes from chaos to organised.
Keeping Desktop clear going forward
The problem
You save everything to Desktop temporarily and it fills up within days.
With OCDify
Add Desktop as a watched folder. Every new file is automatically moved to the right place the moment you save it. Desktop stays clean permanently.
Organising client project files
The problem
You receive files from multiple clients into the same Downloads folder — contracts, designs, invoices, briefs.
With OCDify
Set up categories like "Client Contracts", "Design Files", "Invoices", "Briefs". OCDify reads each file and routes it to the right client folder automatically.
Developers sorting source files & screenshots
The problem
Constant stream of screenshots, log files, downloaded repos, and documentation PDFs all landing in Downloads.
With OCDify
Categories like "Screenshots", "Logs", "Repos", "Docs" keep your Downloads organised without ever touching a file manually.
Common questions about setup
- How long does setup take?
- Less than 5 minutes from download to first auto-sort. The AI model download (~1 GB) is the longest step. After that, adding folders and categories takes under a minute.
- Can I sort files that are already in my Downloads folder?
- Yes. In addition to watching for new files, OCDify has a manual "Sort now" option that classifies and moves all existing files in a watched folder into your categories.
- What happens if OCDify puts a file in the wrong folder?
- Just move it manually — OCDify won't fight you. You can also rename or adjust your category descriptions to improve accuracy for similar files in the future.
- Does OCDify work if I'm offline?
- Yes, completely. After the one-time AI model download, OCDify runs offline forever. No internet connection is needed for file classification, license validation, or any core feature.
Stop sorting files manually.
